Sounds like the bullet ricocheted back at the shooter. There always have been curious target shooters that want to see what happens, and it will not stop. there is always a idiot out there that wants to prop up some armorplate from an aircraft or Tank and they find out that it shoots back. 35 years ago Robert Fornorf took a shot at some headrest armorplate from his F8F Bearcat and it nearly hit him, his plane finally did bite him at Quonset Point when it shed a wing at a July 4th airshow.
