That's as good as a CCKW gets. To improve it you'd have to build a hull round it and call it a DUKW

Ah yes, the swb gun tractor dukw .....with closed cab. Very rare.

There was at least one 4 x 4 DUKW in the north of Italy somewhere, presumably a 6 x 6 that got trashed and rebuilt with a single back axle. I heard about it on an Amphib outing on Lake Garda, but never saw it.

An original early DUKW turned up on the same outing, spare wheel on the other side, horizontal coaming, standard GMC windshield. Just as it was made apart from hydraulic steering actuators for the rudder.
