Buzzed by a WW2 era aircraft.

It is a beautiful day here in Central New Hampshire. 83.2 degrees F, bright sun, not a cloud in the sky and very low humidity. A truly stellar day in a string of rainy crappy days for the last 2 months....OK...that is all with the weather report.

Before it got too hot I decided to paint my Chevy Fire Truck wheels their final coat of OD, and also paint the Ben Hur Taillights, and the windshield frame for the Chevy.

My paint booth is one of these tarp type high structures that you can buy at Sam's Club and such. It works super to sand blast and paint in and is convenient. When not being used for cosmetic stuff it is the storage building for the WC-54 Ambulance.

I had moved the WC out last night and parked it in the middle of the yard not under any trees.

While spraying I heard a plane go over at about 1000 feet and could tell that it was a Radial Engine job. Private Planes flying over is a common occurance on their way in to the Regional Airport in Laconia NH....They are usually using IFR (you know...I follow Roads!).

About 60 seconds later this roar occurs as this same aircraft comes in on the deck right over the WC-54. By the time I got out to see it it was mostly gone by but I could tell that he was no more than 200 feet off the deck. He must have seen the 60 inch red cross on the top of the WC and came in for a look.

The plane was a low wing radial engine job. Since I did not have my enemy aircraft identification cards with me I was unable to tell what it was. I am guessing it was a Texan.

I am sure he will be back in the future. I have the digital camera by the back door....next time pictures!

My excitement for the day...ain't this a great hobby!!!! :D

There is a guy in a small town just north of me, New Braunfels that has a T-6 he flies regularly over my house on the weekends. I occassionaly see the B-25, Yellow Rose which is housed 30 miles north and about 3 months ago a SBD Dauntless flew over the house. I live just a mile off of IH35 and IFR to the pilots of these old airplanes is I Follow the Road. It is easy to fly from SA to Dallas and just follow IH35.
Old airplanes are fun the the roar of a big radial is a great sound. Nothing like it. :D

Joel, that T-28 is a great trainer to fly. The Charlie model , with the big 2000 HP Pratt and Whitney is a hoss of an airplane. I always thought the A model T-28 sounded like an old John Deere 2 cylinder tractor. The engine had a sound like it was missing on at least one cylinder all the time. :D
