M-3L-4 bed wanted

I know this is OT but I am looking for a bed for my M-3L-4. I am not that picky so even a Chevy 11/2 ton bed would work.

Check some of the old "parts for sale" posts there have been many beds avail. on your coast . They may be sold now but you may get a lead on another one.

Mike,

There is a Chevy bed on one of the Burma Jeeps behind the hangar. The sides are missing though. It still has the floor, frame and rear panel and maybe even the tail gate. Get out the sheet metal break, sheer and the spot welder and make yourself some sides. You can get get repro stake pockets.

I am looking for a bed that does not need a ton of work. There is not much left of that chevy bed. Ryan Are we going to start work on the CCW this winter?

We need to get some of that junk out of the back shop room so we have room to back the in CCW. I don't want to tear it apart until we have a place that it can sit for a year or 2. I don't even want to pull the bed until we have a place to put the truck.

You might want to talk to Chris T about removing the bed of the CCW. I talked to him about it a few days ago and he had some concerns. What is the plan for the military bed on the civy GMC? It might fit on my M-3L-4.

That bed is probably way too long for your M-3L-4. That is a 12 ft bed. I think you would be much better off with a 9 ft bed. That Anthony bed that blackdog found would be perfect.

Well a M105 trailer bed will work also. I think the trailer behind the hanger is a M101 witch is too small. I am just looking for something that will look better than a cab and bare frame.

Mike,

I really thing you should consider that Chevy bed that is on the Burma jeep. I think even without the sides it will look better than an M105 bed. I also think if you wanted to you could even mock up sides like the correct Anthony bed. At least you are starting with the floor and rear panel of a correct length military bed that will look similar to the original bed. The M105 will look out of place with the fender wells and all. Even if for now you just took the Chevy bed and cleared it off and painted it and then later on you went and mocked up an Anthony bed. Those Anthony bed sides are nothing but bent up sheet metal. It seems like I may have even seen pictures of the IHC 1.5 tons with a wood bed that looked like a glorified stake bed but not totally sure on that I could not find those pics again. What is the wheelbase on your truck it seems they were a bit shorter than the SWB Chevy.

The M-3L-4 is 145in wheel base. I have seen pics of M-3L4s with Chevy 1.5 ton, CCKW 352, and M105 beds. I was told that a guy took a M135 bed cut it in half and shortend it and made it work. Original M-3L-4 beds are avaible for around $300 or so I have been told. The problem is the sides are so tall it is hard to do anything with them. So I was thinking of puting something on there that would be more useful.

If you can get and original bed for $300 I would sell those M-2-4 seats to Dave K and buy the correct bed I think you will be happier in the long run. The sides on the original bed are no taller than the Chevy bed when you include the wood panels on the Chevy.

For some reason I thought the M-3L-4 had a 139 inch wheelbase.
