I imagine you guys up east have rather incliment weather today. The sun is shining here and the temps will reach about 65, but then that is pretty cool for south Texas.

Good time for some reruns. Got a wicked good storm brewing. First snowplow just went by. Will plug in the M-37 for plowing later on. They have a good defroster/heater system with the Artic Heater Kit. Things improved with Korean War M-Series. 55 Years old in Oct. Got it from Conway NH in 64.

Hey guys;
the storm is over here in Md. 6- 8 inches, but with 30mph gusts blowing off the Chesapeake BAy.
I have the perfect reason to have a MV. I told my wife that my 41 Chevy saved the roof on our garge. She said "what". I took her outside and showed her a 30 foot pine tree that was leaning on the dump bed with its branches on our garge roof.
If the truck had not been there, well no gutter, maybe a hole in the roof..............
truck came away unscathed too.
So the next time the misses complains about the truck , I will say, "remeber the snowstorm where it saved the garage."

Re:
I guess it is a slow day....
AD,
This is ending up being a little "Girlie Storm" here in Central New Hampshire... 2"....little wind to speak of. Guess the "Flatlanders" in Boston/Hartford/NYC will have something to complain about tomorrow at the water cooler.
Gave me a day to work on my ETO living history direction signs....
Bill

Well we have had the wind and that just adds work to me. I have a swimming pool and everyone elses leaves blow into my pool. I have them all out at the present. I have been out greasing my CCKW. Nice day to crawl under a truck. I would get a cover for the pool but that would have to come out of my WWII collecting and CCKW money, so I just scoop the suckers out. Have fun doing your signs today.

Turned the key on the 42 Chev 4x4 dump-plow-w/wing truck. Waited for the pump clattering to die down, pumped the gas 3 times, pulled the choke all the way out and she turned about 1.5 quick turns and she was off!
Let her warm up a bit while I brushed off the snow, then it was wing down, 9 footer on the front down and off to undo natures bidding! It was about 15 degrees at the time. Starts every time!

I used a broom on the deck, and the M-37 starts well just the way the factory left it. The 8' Fisher Snowplow will make short work of the light dry snow. I have the last M-37 unit made by Fisher. The undercarriage and hydraulics were designed by Dean Fisher just for the M-37. The Artic Heater will keep me comfortable while I plow.

Pretty cold here this AM but will be up in the 80's by wednesday. Spring will be here in south Texas by the end of this month. Never any need for a snow plow down here. But as I have always said, if I wanted to be cold I would live where it is cold. I like mild winters and the hot summers are not really a problem. AC takes care of that quite well.

For those of us with vehicles representing the wartime ETO, we can experience the climate, and appreciate what our Greatest Generation went thru. When my vehicles are not in hibernation, I can spent a few quiet moments near the Hangar#1 and the Ramp at old Dow Field, where many B-17 and B-24 Crews departed from into the unknown. Just about every ETO Bomb Group staged thru Dow 42-45. It is only a 5 mile straight run out of my Motorpool. I have many good memories of hearing wartime Dow come alive each day with the sound of revving aircraft engines

here in San Antonio we did not have the distinction of sending the big bombers to Europe during World War II. All that happened here was the training of the pilots that flew the many aircraft of the Army Air Force.
By the end of the war into the 50's B-29 pilot training was going on at Randolph Field here but as far as I know those are the only four engine bombers ever stationed in San Antonio.
We will never be able to simulate ETO conditions, unless it is the summer in Europe.

Thats a fact but I would be glad to send some, as there is plenty of the stuff around here, especially prickly pear.
South west of San Antonio are the Texas bad lands. Nothing but cactus, thorns, rocks and rattle snakes. As a friend of mine said , one time when we were hunting there, " man this is the unfriendlyess place I have ever seen. Everything either sticks you are bites you."
