water pump

Post by Thundercat97 »

I am working on my CCKW and wanted to know if there are any issues I need to watch out for when I replace my water pump?

Thanks,
Rob

Mount the pump THEN mount the output from the head. Use a new piece of heater hose between.

I drill a small hole in the thermostat if there is not one already to prevent an airlock situation when you first start that can prevent the anti from getting to the thermostat and opening it thereby cooking the engine....

Water pump

Post by Thundercat97 »

I went to Parts Plus armed with the water pump part number (59-8013) and cash -- get what? They said it isn't available. The guy pounded on the keys but every time it came up "NA". Well, I drove down the road to another parts place that is not a Part Plus dealer and gave him the same part number. He opened the parts books and found.... it! The only issue is I need to give him my core for them to rebuild since they don't have any available. Well, at least I will have a 'new' pump soon.
