Looking for a complete spare tire carrier or parts for same for a Chevy G506. I could use a good diagram for carrier and make my own if someone has one. Thanks

Spare tire carrier??

Post by retro-roco »

Craig,

I have a spare tire carrier that I bought from Europe, and paid to have shipped here... It may be for sale. It has been offered for sale to a friend, but so far has not gone beyond that. This one is complete with latch, but has typical surface rust.

Are you sitting down?? My price is slightly over $400, plus shipping to you.

If you're still interested, send me a PM.

If you're serious about making your own, I would recommend that you read this thread about the challenges associated with making your own: http://www.cckw.org/phpbb2/viewtopic.ph ... ht=carrier

Or just go to the search page, and search using the term "carrier".

You'll find that this idea has been discussed a number of times. Paul Farber was (or is ) working on some plans, and I have a one that I started on, but never finished. I figured with two spare tire carriers and only one truck, that I had more important things to spend my time on....

spare carrier

Post by bobc »

That is the holy grail of CCKW parts, that and a good bed, that $400 sounds high but I've seen them go for $600,an old timer told me that they are all missing because they would fall down while driving down the road, and the first time that happen the spare ended up in the bed,I bought 4 CCKWs and only one had a carrier. Good luck with your search.

They are definately hard to come by in the states. The one I have came from Holland and it cost a pretty penny with shipping.
