open cab outside mirror bracket

Post by bobc »

I had to move the open cab around the yard the other day and relized quite quickly why they added that mirror on the passenger side,my truck has a steel cab that someone added but they must have patterned after the canvas top because they didn't put a back window in it,so if someone has an extra outside mirror bracket they would be willing to sell or trade please let me know,I have an M series arm and mirror that looks just like the one on the drivers side,it could be M series for all I know, but if they match I'm happy. Thanks alot Bob.

If you have no luck getting a mirror arm in the US try Wildenberg in Netherlands,wildenberg@planet.nl
I obtained new arms from them last year and find them OK,they are of course repro but even in Europe OE items are now virtually unobtainable.

mirror brackets

Post by bobc »

The mirror arm and 4 inch round mirror aren't the problem,it's that special open cab only bracket that bolts to the cab that I need. Joel probably has one,it's seems like he could assemble a whole truck out of his NOS supply. If he could find the time.

M-135/M-211 GMC use the same bracket that the arm attaches to. There are a lot of dead M-Series GMCs out there. I have some but don't have a clue where they are. The M-Series GMC arms are the same except the drain hole is 90 degrees off.

mirror bracket

Post by bobc »

Thanks for the info Joel,I didn't think the bracket was the same,I'll have to check with some of the advertisers in MVM,M-series stuff is much easier to come by,I might even be able to find some locally.I knew you'd have the answer. If you happen to come across one tape it to the top bow when you get around to it. Thanks again,Bob.

There are dead M-135/M-211s everywhere, they are a dog, regardless of what a few diehard owners may preach, as they are dedicated to doing all the extra work that goes with the beast.

junk yard blessing

Post by bobc »

Oh the joys of having your own junk yard, after Joel informed me that the M-series used the same bracket I went looking through my stuff,I have 2 M-series 5 ton 6X6s and one of those had the proper bracket still on it,someone had incorporated it into a semi style mirror assembley, but the bracket and arm were all there and usable, thanks again for the tip Joel.

Thanks for the info Joel. I have long wanted to put a passanger side mirror on my truck, mainly for backing up purposes. I know where there are a couple of old M series trucks in a field. I will check them out.
