The Aircraft depicted is a 4 engineC-54. The C-54 centered service in the Army Air Force in 1942 and served into the early 70s. C-131 was powered by2 P&W R2800 engines that did not have airscoops on the top of the nacelle. The exhaust for the C-131 engine exited directly out the rear. C-131 did not have the large cargo door at that location.

Joel, thanks for confirming my original post that it was a C54. I guess I just over analyzed the photograph. The more I looked at the photo the aircraft seemed to have only two engines, and I did not remember that outboard engine being so far away from the inboard engine.

in boniface & jeudy's book "the GMC a universal truck" the photo's of a both a colse cab and open cab 353 with Gar Wood elevating hoist are page 96 open cab and page 97 closed cab the bed appears to be a composite wood and steel bed :D
