Top one is definately a Diamond T

Bottom one is a closed cab Autocar or FWD.

They have the same engine (529 cid Herc), tranny, xfer and front axle

The top truck is a Diamond T 969 Wrecker. Here is a picture of the data plates.

Missing a couple of parts but very restorable.

The Bottom pic is probably a Autocar U 7144T (White also made these 444T) 4-5 Ton tractor. No plates. It is restoreable but would need a donor vehicle or 2. It would be perfect to tow the F-2 USAAF fuel tanker I have been eyeing.

I know these trucks
The owner is Eric Horr
The Autocar is a 4 5 ton it will be restored it came from Frank Buck he delivered it when he bought the International half track from the Wright Museum
The red 4 ton Dia T is for sale it a needs an engine and drive shafts and a (as usual for this neck of the woods ) body .
Was the M5H6 there as well ?

Diamond T was the best looking HMV (closed cab) of WW2 IMHO

Hi Bill

I think it can be had for $3000.00 The motor is bad , the lites and guards are also missing as is some of the drive line .
The cab is in good shape considering the "nesting " that been going on.
I don't know if the battery box and the tins are there or not.
The truck labored as a building mover, the power tower is there but another winch has been adapted since the wrecker gear is not there.
It definitly needs complete resto.
I been thinking about it but by the time a body is located ,an engine, tires etc. and everything is overhauled I estimate that I would have an easy $15,000 plus labor invested. To me it would be more cost effective to purchase a complete unit. Some are listed in the $11,000 to $12,000 range.
I have Eric's number somewhere let me try to find it and post it.

John Cliche is right. Buy a complete one

I had one years ago. It needed a door handle. I went to an old car/truck flea market and looked and looked having the broken one in my hand. I finally settled on a Chevy/CCKW handle and had to "rework" it to make it fit.

Parts for them are like the difference between the Jeep and the CCKW, only much worse

You also cannot repower them with a straight engine as the top cowl air scoop extends out over the flathead engine. No OHV allowed, though a GMC 351, 401, or 478 truck V6 would probably be a good match.

The angled windshield, the proportions of the cab to the long hood, the cast radiator. WOW those "Tilt's " sure are handsome.

Naw, I would have told you

It's a gentleman from Saco that I met at the Weare show a couple of years ago.
Eric the former owner stopped by for a visit today ,so I asked him where the IHC went.
The new owner will be looking for a body I'm sure.
This IHC is a long WB truck so it is pretty much relegated to a cargo body, and we all know how rare they are on this coast

Jim Bertao has a complete partialy restored 1944 Diamond T open cab 4 ton cargo for sale. He is asking $10,000 and it comes with a parts truck. Sure wish I had the money. The Diamond T's are a real cool lookin truck.
