DUKW in New Orleans

Anybody see FOX News (about 1730 East Coast time on 9/4/05) with the White Tour DUKW being used by the National Guard to go around and pickup people and move them to higher ground.

60+ years and still serving

I saw the old beast today on Fox. Painted white with a tourist roof, but like you said, 60 and still going strong. They were rescusing people stranded by the flood.

As soon as I saw the flooding following the hurricane I though " there has to be someone with a DUKW down there" It would be the perfect rescue vehicle in a place like that where you have to go from dry ground to deep water.
