Just dusted it off after 15 years, rediscovered that it shows GM Factory assembly lind photos of CCKWs and of CCKWs and AFKWs rolling out the door. Many shots of WWII footage of all us wheeled vehicles, CCKWs with the Scissor Lift Body in use. Chev 4X4s in Combat. All in French and out of print.

I saw that book a couple of weeks ago at a friends house,while it does show alot of good picture too many are post war adaptations,which are interesting but for the amount that book goes for I'd rather it had more 40-45 pictures,does the book by Becker have more WW2 pictures,I see it on international bookseller list but shipping is almost as much as the book,I'd like to see a copy of it before I buy it.

Book was pricey back when new. Some newcomers may not find it interesting, but the WWII photos of the broad spectrum of US Army trucks in actual use, the rare photos of other than Cargo CCKWS , the Color photos, the Ponton bridge trucks, combat scenes of just about anything imaginable, make the book more than worth it. Yes there are shots of post WWII use(Indochina, and French Army and Air Force use) but all are in their original livery. I believe someone on this site commented that CCKWs were not taken into combat, this will put her into perspective, fast. If you are looking for solely CCKW photos, they are only part of it, their rarity make the book worthwhile.There are hundreds of photos of WWII vehicles in action. And guess what? Not one waterbucket, a real bubble buster! This is just the book for realistic WWII truck enthusiasts, as it portrays reality. I love it.

I need to get me a copy of that book. I have a full set of TM's for the CCKW all printed in Norwegion and it has a lot of post war modifications in the set of three books. Great photos too.

This book will give you a taste of the variety of the many WWII Trucks in a way TM9-2800 will not. It is unfortunate, but one has to travel the worlds' museums and collections to catch a real look at what some of us grew up around 50+ years ago. It is amazing, but the best books on CCKW and Jeep come from europe, the ones that show up from US are not on a par with the French books. There is a photo on Page 134, that although in French, is quite easy to interpret. It shows Early CCKW SWBs towing guns into battle in North Africa.

Joel,Do you have a copy of Emile Beckers book? If so how does it compare to the bonaface book? Which one has more war time photos? It really sad that the country that produce the majority of equipment during the war doen't have a really good book on US transport. There are alot of great books on halftracks,tanks and of coarse jeeps,but the real work horses are sorely neglected,it sounds like it's time for Dr Duce and Army Driver and Joel to get togather with all thier knowledge and background and put togather a definative book covering the 1 1/2 ton to 7 ton trucks,put me on the list,Bob.

No two collectors have the same appetite for books. The CCKW book by Becker is just perfect, as is the book portrayed here by Jeudy. The Jeudy book has CCKW photos that are not in the other book, and also depicts photos of the majority of other rolling and amphibious equipment used during the War. I wouldn't be without either. They make for good reference, What I like is they show the trucks in the raw during WWII, and do not have influence of post war collectors that tend to depict the trucks in a world of fantacy that has them wearing "must have" do-dads that seem to capture the imaginations of present time collectors. Water buckets? Only in your dreams. You will see none in these books.
