A real Mr McGoo truck in the rough, but there has to be a worse one than that. Mine got loose on the freighter while being loaded in Rotterdam, and bent one side, but I changed it.

All of this bumper damage was done by the previous owner(s)

Can you imagine the impact it must have taken to do the drivers side bang job.

The driver must have been launched through the windshield...Serves the driver right.

Finding a good par shock avec treuil, is at a premium, could cost as much as some would be willing to pay for a running truck.

Nothing is screwed up, some of us have French Army parts on our CCKW, my par shock is from French Army surplus. It is gonna take a some good French to iron out that bumper.

Actually Annie is that way for a VERY important reason:

1st rule in restoration, do your homework. Even though not perfect, the bumper could almost have been modified to that configuration.

I have a person with a 200 ton press who striaghtens our my bumpers when needed so that is not an issue.

I did a search for a long time while I was making the truck ready for the road. The crane was made by the Schield-Bantam crane company of Waverly Iowa. They became the largest crane company in the world! They modified the CCKW for the installation of the crane in many ways.

Through much research and following leads, I was recently able to make contact with the grandson of one of the two founders (brothers) of the company. He and I had numerous conversations and he was grateful to see the pictures of Annie (my crane). I asked him about the front bumper and he was not sure if they modified them or not. He promised to look through old pictrues to see for me.

SOOOOOOOOOOO I have not modified it to something that may not have been original from the Schield-Bantam factory! I have plenty of time to straighten it out if it was straight from the factory.

So before you fill in that hole, change the brake system, change the cab type, do your homework and research!

Look at that bumper, you can see the frame extensions embossed in it, I have seen a lot of new crane carriers with straight front bumpers, and to bend one on purpose is unbelieveable. Steve you gotta be pulling our legs.

Aw, Steve, fess up and tell us you did it yourself.

Look at M-series winch bumpers. They are folded back.

That is the way I got it

I kind of have a theory that the truck due to its heavy weight needed a nudge now and then to get it to move on soft ground, and the bumper suffered.
