Which type of jack do you carry on the road?

The one you keep for actual repairs, not just for display.

Icarry an 8 ton modern hyd.bottle jack from ... well you geussed it ...NAPA
I have yet to locate a "correct" original :(

I also carry several "blocks" of wood for cribbing/etc

The importent thing is to make sure the jack will fit under the axle /with a flat tire.

Hope this helps

I do the same as John,

3 Ton on the Dodge and 8 ton on the Chevys and CCKW's.

A modern unit. I removed the stickers and painted the Jack OD.

You might want to try to store/keep the jack upright especially in the cold weather.

I discovered with my engine hoist cylinder that after being stored horizontally on the floor when disassembled, that it will not work/pump right for a while after being put into the correct orientation. And yes it was full of jack juice.

Could be frustrating when you needed it to change a tire. You might think it had failed or was out of juice.
