Steve and Bill's Big Adventure
Today was a good day.
It started with the hunt for a CCKW 352 Closed Cab Split with Winch. After getting a wrong address from the seller...Detective Dr. Deuce decided this was the place.
We found the alleged culprit at a LLama farm in the middle of the pouring rain during a severe Thunderstorm.
Here she is and she is now mine....another long term project.
We then went and got my other new truck...
2005 GMC 3500 Crewcab dually Duramax Diesel in silver
A very good day indeed.
"So many trucks....so little time!"

Nice trucks but I am a fan of the older models myself. The CCKW is in really nice shape.

Here it is raining and we are getting quite wet. I start scrapping the frame for the serial number because the seller does not know where to look. I scrapped, and scrapped but could not find it. Finally I tried lower on the frame and there it was, almost at the bottom bend in the frame. I have never seen one that low before!

You haven't seen mine yet, it is double struck. These had to have been done by hand on each chassis.

Nothing un-usual or rare on my truck. The serial number is easily seen stamped on the frame , in the middle , in the usual place.

Remember, there were 562,000 CCKW Chassis Numbers, and it was not a precise job, the spacing and positions all seem to vary. Take a peek at the next show that has a row of CCKWs.

All of the ones that I have (8) and others I have looked at seemed to be
pretty much in the same place. I have noticed though that the letters and numbers looking like they were hand stamped because of spacing and alignment.
Bill's new 352 is definately something I have never seen before on a CCKW because it is sooo low on the frame member.

Mine's low too, must have been short guys on the crew. There is more to the meaning SWB than is understood.
