Picked up a copy of the Book...

GMC CCKW-352/353
by Emile Becker and Guy Dentzer

Very good book. Full of information that would take numerous other sources to find.

There is a decent size section of the book dedicated to trailers pulled by the CCKW.....especially the Ben Hur. Great pictures and it discusses other variations other that cargo...the generator model, the welder model, the tire service model, the fuel transfer model....Many pictures and information that Ihave not seen discussed elsewhere.

It is truly a book a book where you "bought it for the pictures" as it is printed in French.

I found this on a used book site on the net. The book was unused.

I encourage you to buy a copy if you don't have it.

It's written in french (and german) but there isn't to much text. There are just some legends for the pictures.

If you need a tanslation of something, just let me know.

What makes it good is actual WWII Period photos, but you have to be careful, as there are post war shots of privately owned vehicles in the same Black and white format of trucks that have been altered. I do not have my book in sight, but some of the inside vuews of Cabs are not taken from intact vehicles, but obviously from trucks that have been altered. It takes an experienced eye to catch these things. Bill, did you find the Blood Shipping Can photo?

Yeh, Joel, there is a photo of a water bucket on the Jerry can of a CCKW in the book. I don't remember the page number though.. Guess they weren't collecting donationations like I do.
