FAMILIAR WITH DUCT TAPE?

It comes in OD, and saves the day at times. WWII Warbird Armorers used red colored tape gun ports and MG muzzles prior to missions, and temporarily plug bullet holes.

Those of us familiar with The Red Green Show on PBS will certainly be aware of the multitude of uses for ( the all porpose handy-man fix it tool ) otherwise known as Duck/t tape

In the spring of the early 80's we were holding an air show in Laredo, Texas. After the Saturday show some severe weather came through and several of the aircraft were damaged. Sunday morning we pushed the most severly damaged out of the way and the Sunday flying went on. This was partially responsible due to the fact that duct tape was used on fabriced surfaces that had small tears, such as aelerons and rudder surfaces. Several of the Tora used the majic tape in order that they might fly. After the show all taped surfaces were checked and new tape added where necessary, then the birds flew home.
Good stuff, that duct tape.

I have a roll of 2" woodland camo green duck/duct tape by Polyken Technologies. I have no historical information regarding it's use, however it came in handy for repairing the upholstery on the arms of an old sofa of similar pattern .

I still have a nearly full roll of OD that I bummed from the shop chief at the National Guard Facility back in 76. He started in 1935 as a Stable Boy tending horses. I use it on special occasions.

Kinky things,
I did use some of it on Dave Talachet's B-24 here in Bangor on it's trip from England to California.It landed at dusk, I was there to greet it. They complained of a sudden draft that came about on leg from Newfoundland to Bangor. At daybreal we discovered a 1 foot round hole in the plexiglass on the Nose Turret. I liberated a piece from the Army Guard Aviation Support Facility to patche it with the OD Duct Tape so that they could be in Hartford at 0930 for the 50th anniversary of Prat and Whitney. Sam Hill Col USAF Retired and coincidently CO of the 75th Fighter intercepter Interceptor Group at Dow said, "I'll get my men on it. After an hour of him farting around, I walked over to the Army Guard aviation unit I used to serve with and was back in 15 minites with the plexiglass...
I really don't know what I am saving the rest for, but it brings good memories.
