Operation Overlord...My Uncles Story.

Post by Bill_Wolf »

On the 61st Anniversary of the breaching of Hitler's Atlantic Wall...

While this has little to do with CCKW's ....I though members of the group might find this interesting.

It is from my uncle's memoirs....His legacy to the family....about his actions during D-day at Omaha Beach.

It is interesting reading.....

Reading your uncles story sent shivers up my spine,a very brave man, very modest and he makes very light of an horrific situation. The pic i sent which you have posted in events is, I think, of the entrance to the draw where your uncle set up the command post.(E1 draw).

Now.just after midnight 61 years ago the first parachutists were landing in Normandy to mark the landing zones for the main drop,I hope everyone will take a little time out to remember that historic day and the sacrifice that so many young men of many nationalities made.
