Don't you just love that picture of the CCKW SWB on the Home Page?
Jim S., get those waterbuckets off and get your truck on display here on this site. Jim is the proud owner of a nice LWB Cargo, and would just love to establish a Motorpool with all other MVs in Maine.

That is one good looking shortwheeled base truck. Unlike Joel, I like the water bucket and other web gear hanging on the truck. I think it looks cool.

Freedom of expression is marvelous, perhaps a Dude Ranch for Army trucks is in order, I guess I just like the look that they had right out of the motorpool, and I do not have to worry about those with "light fingers" that collect their Web Gear the easy way. I do have a collection NOS 43-44 entrenching tool covers in my Ben Hur, and a couple of NOS 1944 dated Headquarters Field desks, and a WWII Typewriter Chest. Also have a few of them things that are used to make holes in the enemy. My NOS M-31C Mount was removed my MB when it was used by General Yeager, (it was hard on elbows and funny bones) and I sold my NOS M-36 Mount off the CCKW. (it said "thank you", and was like putting the sneakers back on) I do have several crates in back of my CCKW for Carbine Ammo,a WWII crate for WWII USAAF .50 ammo, and some genuine WWII Wood Crates that had CCKW parts, that have the "Hands Across The Sea" labels on them. My M-1 Bomb Cart sometimes rides in back. I think I do sort of understand why many display web gear, and their reasoning is fine.

I found that when displaying war vehicles, whether jeeps, trucks or even airplanes, the general public
likes to see war stuff on them. To us just the truck is enough, and for goodness sake, a P-51 should send chills up and down anyones spine without stuff, but it amazing how much more attention it will draw if there is a table of flight gear, .50 cal ammo belts and ect on display with the airplane. And if you happen to have a donation box near, more money makes it way into the coffers to Keep her Flying, or Keep em Rollin, whichever might be the case.
I used to display a manniquin in aWWII flight suit, helmet and goggles next to my 43 GPW that carried the markings of the 23rd Fighter Group. It always drew a bigger crowd than the other jeep parked next to it that looked factory fresh. Presentation and the teaching of history.

See. that is why you need one of those canvas buckets. It beats the heck out of passing the hat.

I just may buy a bucket for that purpose, but will not be used as an ornament when not in use, it will be stowed where the sun don't shine. How cheap can I get one. Are there off season prices?

I sure haven't seen any cheap ones out there. I used to buy them for a couple of bucks apiece at the local flea markets. I think the jeep guys drove up the prices. It is all their fault.
