The pressure on the hosting folks worked this time.6/7/2006 23:15
The message board is currently down. It was not hacked as previously stated by the Server Company. On 6/6/2006 at about 22:00 the hosting company had a hardware problem with a server that the board was housed on. This lead to the loss of files and the message board history (database). To this point the hosting company denies any responsibility (although I have a documented repair ticket on this issue generated at the time) and is requesting $300 to retrieve the message board off a backup tape and reinstall it.
While the board software has a backup feature it is not supported by this host on a SQL database. I am totally at their Mercy on this.
Mid level management at this host sees their negligence as a profit opportunity and is currently unwilling to do anything.
I have moved this request to a higher authority in the hosting company and am awaiting their decision.
UPDATE: The higher authority reloaded all software from a tape backup at about 1300 on Friday 6/9/2006. All is now well. Some posts may have been lost if put up on 6/6/2006
