Second Flag Raising

Thanks Bill. The first flag raising looks a lot more realistic, but the staged second one is the lasting image. The original work for the monument that is in Washington D.C. is located at the U.S. Marine Academy in Harlingen, Texas. The academy is a military school located at the airport there. The work in Harlingen is the mold that was used to cast the actual monument on display now. Thanks again for both photo. Few people ever have seen the first photo.

ARMY
WHY ARE YOU SAYING THE SECOND FLAG RAISING WAS STAGED

IT WAS NOT . THE ONLY STAGED PHOTO WAS AFTER THE FIRST FLAG RAISING, ABOUT TWENTY MEN LINED UP IN FRONT OF THE FLAG FOR A PHOTO .

You are correct....the first flag was deemed to small so they brought another off one of the ships and raised it again...the cameran had the advantage to know when the second flag was going to be placed so he waited...2 great pictures for histroy either way!
