3 of them are friends, five are MVPA members. Franz is a recognized WWII Vehicle expert, and Army Motors contributor. Charles Varner is a well known MV article Contributor to Army motors and a MVPA President. Jeff Perry, close friend of Lawrence Nabholtz, has contributed several feature articles in Army Motors over the past 35 years. Small world.

Not all of these trucks are in southeast Texas. Humble and League City are in Southeast Texas, close to Houston. Whitesboro, Grandview,Burleson are closer to Fort Worth and Dallas.
San Antonio is considered to be in south central Texas some 200 to 250 miles from the other major cities. Sadly enough, probably during WWII there were litterly hundreds of CCKw's in San Antonio as Fort Sam Houston is where 3rd Army was located and trained and at Camp Bullis and Fort Sam the 2nd Infantry Division was here also. There were also 4 Army Air Force bases here, Kelly Field, Randolph Field, Brookes Field and the San Antonio Aviation Cadet Center( now Lackland AFB) My poor old Betty Boop is the only running CCKW in the San Antonio at present. I know a guy that has a non-running closed cab truck about 50 miles from my house and two of the Lone Star MVPA members have CCKW's. One a compressor truck and another guy has an imcomplete closed cab truck that are non running at present. Both trucks are in Austin , about 90 miles North . Hopefully they will get their trucks restored in the future so I can have more CCKW company in parades. I have offered to help them but they all have other WWII vehicles they are interested in at the present.
