Here is the Engine rebuild dataplate on my CCKW.
Looks like the engine was done while it was with MDAP 28 years ago.
Interesting...and still standard cylinder bore.

Now that is a rarity. I restored a 42 GPW for Texas A&M 10 years ago and it had an ordance rebuilt tag on the jeep from Germany from 1952. That is cool, thanks for sharing it with us.

Some of the Euro 270 Rebuilds have surprises, like (Non OEM) Pistons with the extra ring on the skirt, There are no ring sets available over here that fit. many STD Bore Blocks wil be found in European Surplus trucks, some will have had new blocks at rebuild, and many will be resleeved. The original parts to build up a block, brackets, little baffles, oil pump plumbing, valve train components, Oil Lines with the special threads, manifolds, good carburetors, are becoming increasingly difficult to obtain, after all, we are 65 years into the game. There is no "one stop shopping" with all parts in stock at most places. The quality of rebuilds varies with the shop, the worst I ever saw were from ERGMA, Trippoli Libya, from the 60s. ERGMA shops are located in many countries through out Europe. I have seen engines with 3 styles of pistons, valve springs upside down, etc.

Wasn't trying to scare anyone, but the quality of the work can vary, and some components are local manufacture. My Danish rebuild engine appears to be stock, but the copper washers were left off from the two botton Timing Cover bolts that are installed from inside the Oilpan, and I had a 20 year leak that would leave a small puddle. The ERGMA contracted ones can be a Heinz 57, but not always. Mechanics are same the world over, from dubs to skilled craftsmen. I installed a270 in my CCKW a year ago, starting with a NOS WWII Block and using 100% NOS Components, this one has no leaks, has Zip, and has a strong GMC sound, hopefully, it will last me until I retire my fleet. There is no real leak free CCKW as there always is a drip or seep somewhere along the powertrain. Drip Pans are in order. One tip is to use Permatex #2 or #3 on the lower bolt threads attaching the Transmission to the Bellhousing. If this is not done, #90 oil well leak into the Belhousing, and possibly wet the Clutch.

My block is rebuild in the fiftys, in Letterkeny Ordnance Depot USA.
Everything is standard, castingdate matches with estimated date of delivery of the truck itself.
Because of this I think my truck
is imported someway in the fiftys from the USA, allthough Iam
not sure. A lot can happen in sixty years.
Best regards,
Corné
