The employees of the plant receiving the E award were given a pin to wear showing their pride in their effort towards war service. I have the pin my mother was awarded at the Army Ammunition plant in Minden, Louisiana where she worked during the last two years of the war in the office. They had a full time day care center in the plant for the women that worked there. It was open 24 hours a day, just as the plant was. My father was serving in the Army Air Force at that time with the 5th AAF in the South Pacific. He was a B25 pilot. He was killed in July of 1944 while attacking Japanese ships.
