My kids know what a one track mind I have.... so today for my Birthday they got me the U.S Military Vehicles Field Guide and the First Season of the TV show Combat!.

The book is by the Great Military Vehicle historian David Doyle. (Unfortunately David does not partidipate here...hint...hint). It is a book about 4 inches high 5 inches wide and 406 pages. It is truly a fit in your pocket "field guide".

The book follows much the same format as David's Standard Catalog of Military Vehicles but in a more condensed form. It has a beautiful color picture of the vehicle in question and then a small description of it with some vehicle specs. There is also a rarity and vehicle chart. This covers all US Military Vehicles to current.

The pictures are a combination of Official Army photographs, some of Davids stuff, some of the Krause collection, and others from contributors taken at HMV events. There is not a bad picture in the bunch (except maybe some of the Jeep thingys  You know how I love Jeeps). Some of the pictures of the vehicles are stunning (my favorite is the Mack NO towing the "Long Tom").

Truly a worhy buy considering the price. Current pricing at Amazon is $10.39 but it can be found on Ebay for less.

Great material for the Library.... :D ... Thank you David !
