What is a "Drone Winch Trailer?

It's a trailer with a VW engine that reels in this great long but fine cable. Apparently the cable tows a drone. They are made in Germany but have US Army markings. Mine was sold out of Fort Drumm in NY. I will try to get a photo on the weekend.

I did not know if it was one of those catapult trailers for a WWII drone.
