I might "Bomb" around Down Town Bangor tonite in the CCKW just to celebrate the the VJ Day event and give Bangor a little reminder of 60 years ago.(no horn blowing or noisy passengers, just me and the SWB) The word "Bomb" ain't politically correct, and could spell trouble, but that is what we did with our DA haircuts 45-50 years ago in downtown Bangor . The local DOW Army Airfield emptied into the streets of Bangor on VJ Day Evening. I remember riding back to Bangor with my Grandfather in his 41 Chevrolet Panel Truck after visiting friends, and every one yelling to us from their front yard, "Wars Over!".

It is a monumental day in history. All I remember about that day is that we knew that my uncle would be coming back from the Pacific. He was a B-29 gunner on Siapan and flew the Tokyo burn raid among the 25 missions he flew. My dad had died in the Pacific in 1943 while flying a B-25 with the 5th AAF. He would not be coming home and that was pretty sad for my mom.
