WW2 LST part deux

Post by Bill_Wolf »

As you can tell from the previous post the HMV club I belong to was invited to the Charlestown Navy Yard in Boston Mass to help the DOD celebrate a memorial to the Veterans of World War 2 and the 60th anniversary of the End of the War.

Part of the celebration was the visit to Boston Harbor of the LST 325

Image

Other parts of the celebration included speaches by local officials, current high ranking members of the armed forces and veterans of WW2. Entertainment was provided by the Army Band as these lovely young ladies (USO) singing WW2 era music.

Image

Above are three members of our club including this lists...Dr. Deuce. The girls were invited over to our group of 11 WW2 vehicles to take pictures. They spent almost 30 minutes with us allowing everyone to take pictures of them including the large crowd of spectators that had gathered.

The whole event was wonderful and I was proud to be part of it.

Finally a picture of Dr. Deuce and his lovely wife Jeannie in front of his CCKW.

Oh yea! But that was not it.

When I go to displays and I don't want people messing with the truck, I remove the door handles and throw one inside the cargo bed by the tailgate. I can lock mine, but people get pulling with all their might on the handles and I am afraid they will bend something inside and lock me out!

Good observation though
