D Day celebration
I will take my truck to the local VFW today with a static display to honor the anniversary of D Day. I will have a mannequin in full combat gear, some weapons, indlucing an MG42 and Paratrooper items. It should be a lot of fun, however it is supposed to be in the high 90'd this afternoon..oh well no said that teaching history was easy.

it went great. I parked next to their M48 tank and set up. Lots of vets came by and visited and of course just people driving down the highway. The only D-Day vet was a P51 pilot that flew air support. He had spent several days before June 6 straffing German convoys, airfields and trains. He said he destroyed one locomotive on June 4 and that it blew skyhigh... and jumped track and rolled into the ditch beside the track. It was a lot of fun and for a history teacher , and most informative.
