Loading Aircraft with CCKW

I was going thru some Manuals and found this interesting photo in a manual titled Airborne operations - dated 1952. The CCKW is used to provide a mobile laoding platform for aircraft loading.

The Open Cab CCKW looks like it had a wood cargo body and the sides were removed for this special application. I think the 3/4 ton Dodge is about 6000 lbs. No problem for the faithful CCKW.

The 1952 date is also interesting.

We will have to try that with Dr. Deuces crane and Ronzo's WC-51. :shock:

I think Ronzo's WC would need to go on a diet.....

Annie can ONLY lift 6,000 lbs best case :(

If we only had a nice big Constallation cargo airplane with a loading hatch .................what a great display.

perhaps this photo is from that series , it shows a CCKW being ramp loaded into a flying box car C119? (think Flight of the Phoenix)

"Annie" my CCKW-Schield-Bantam ABM51 prototype was suppose to "air transportable" in the early 50's...
