Unknown WW II Army Engineer Tanker

Post by James G. Davis »

A look at the Illustation page of my website "World War II Army Engineer Fire Truck Identification" at http://www.maui.net/~r11/firetruck-id will show under Water Tenders the water truck I knew in WW II in North Africa, Italy, France and Germany. GMC production records suggest 1200 GMC CCKW LWB 353 cabs and chassis were supplied to become water tankers. At least one of tankers, beautifully restored, survives.

Recently, I received the attached picture of slightly different water tanker built Columbian Tank whereas the tanker above was built by Butler Manufacturing. Any information (tank size, info on the pump and info on the pump powering engine) on the Columbian truck will be appreciated.

Thanks,
Jim
