Prior to parking it for the Winter I added Stabil to the fuel and ran the engine until the carb ran out of fuel. This truck has a Carter YF 0-924 on it and that carb does not have a removable plug to drain the fuel bowl.
This summer the truck would not start and run with fresh gas in the tank. It would sputter and run briefly on Starting fluid. And would run a little longer on several ounces of raw gas poured down the throat of the carb. Indications were that the carb was clogged.
I removed the carb and discovered this mess.
Built up gunk from the wonderful E-10 which apparently has absorbed the moisture in the air and left it in the carb. I guess when you run a Carter out of fuel there is still about 1/2 inch in the bottom.
Not much to do except soak the carb and rebuild. I have ordered a kit and it will be running by the weekend.
Note to all. Drain your carbs before short term storage.
