Ignition switch vs keys

Driving the deuce today, it kept randomly cutting out on me. On one long (I thought permanent) cutout, I noticed a glow from under the dashboard. It was the alternator light. Huh? I thought the key had turned off. It had not. I touched it and the truck came alive again. The key switch does not like having a boatload of keys hanging off of it. After 69 years and ~90,000 miles, I guess it is allowed. Thank God no big problem! Phew! New lever switch soon

Reminds me of a guy who brought a late model semi truck into the shop. He was mad as heck that it would not idle below 1200 RPM. Dang Cat engines!
After some trouble shooting checks we found the problem. The driver had about eight or ten of those little pine tree air freshener things all hanging from the Tee handle hand throttle in the cab. All the rubber bands on the air fresheners kept the linkage pulled out about a quarted of an inch. Took the junk off the hand throttle and problem was corrected.
Always check the simple stuff first.
