Wow, that is one beautiful truck. I wish I had the extra money for her as she would be living in a warm climate from now on.

But it is a nice clean truck and may be just what someone is looking for. The person may not have had the money for 12 750X20 tires.

in ref to the tires

Post by cab lizard »

Yes Guys the tires are 900x20's in fact i know that they arent the correct ones but when you live this far north and in great state of montana sometimes you have to do what you have too do with what you can get. the tires i got a good deal on if i took all of them and the truck was in need of tires they are used and i could not complain about what the size were and they work very well and i was able to get them local and didnt have to pay a large sum of money to get them shipped here

It is a really nice truck. Forget what the purist are saying. They love talking about their perfect trucks. All the things they are griping about are changeable and besides it is a WWII GMC and that makes it worth saving for posterity. Not everyone on this site has a complete NOS truck. Thanks for listing your truck and I hope someone buys it that will take care of it.

The difference is, when one chooses to show off his"pride and joy" that is entirely different, than when one shows it to sell. I think everyone agreed that it was a nice truck.

True that if someone wants a 100% correct truck this isn't it but if the new owner wanted to there's nothing that could not be put "right".

As to the rear body I would suspect it could be more or less correct as the cargo body used on the CCKWX was different to that on the CCKW,the illistrations in the parts books prove this. I think the body could in fact pre-date the truck.

Agreed Matt, this truck could easily be corrected to fit the new owners specifications, and despite critisisms, it is a nice truck that can only be a lot better by a small amount of work and some dollars invested. :D

Under certain circumstances the wheels may not be incorrect, there is evidence that the British fitted some GMC's with larger single wheels
and tyres for use in N.Africa although I don't know if this predated the
DUKW,
in which case it would be interesting to know which wheels were used.
There are a no of trucks on the European mainland using DUKW wheels.
As others have said this is a really nice truck and I would certainly be pleased to own it, "faults" or not.
I realise that this truck is on 9.00 tyres but many things were done in theatre and this could have been one of them.

Degsy , you are right and I would love to own her, just no extra money at present. Too many medical bills when you get old.
Nice dream though, I guess I will have to stay with old Betty Boop. :D

Hi AD
I know what you mean about getting old, at least we have a free health service, if you live long enough to get to the top of the waiting list. :!:

Great truck!!

Post by M-1Joe »

I first saw your truck on the G page and thought it was really nice. Is it still for sale? I'm new to the MV club but have been an admirer of these vehicles all my life and now especially interested since becoming a WW II reenactor. I know you had one member make some disparaging comments recently about the body and size tires. I can't say about the body as it looks good to me but I'm still learning. As for the tires they do look a bit larger but not unusually so. Did you mount larger tires to get a little more road speed? I wonder if you'd mind sending me some additional pictures particulary of the cab interior with seats, gauges, weatherstripping, etc. & the cargo bed area? My email is jrand26@yahool.com. Thanks so much and have a great day. -- Joe(NC)
