We were assembling the box on my radio truck today and noticed the box was offset from the cab. I set the floor of the box a few weeks ago and measured it from the rails. I know it is less than 1/4" off dead center. I never really noticed at the time because it was below the walls of the cab. Once we put up the first wall, it became obvious that there was a 2" offset.
Is this normal?

Are open cabs offset?

Offset cab
Like any old carpenter will tell you, "measure thrice, think twice, cut once"
Since you used the frame rails as your reference, I think the width of the rail is 2 inches? Since you are off by two inches, I'd look at which way your assistant was holding their end of the tape measure.
I made that mistake helping my dad measure on a house project many years ago. He never let me forget my tape measure error!
