Biderman

Post by Karoshi »

Hi Rolf, Biderman (note spelling) is mentioned several times in Boniface & Jeudy, and it also shows some photographs of the P1 Crane lorry, the C2 7.1/2 Ton recovery vehicle, the F1 tractor unit.

It also lists their involvment with Fire Fighting vehicles as supplied to the Army Air force by way of the Truck tractor Fuel servicing F1 6x6.

It would be a useful book to start your research.

Fire Trucks ?

Post by Karoshi »

...and I believe they had a start in life making Fire Trucks, circa 1920's. Not 100% sure on this though.

There use to be a Biederman truck here in New Zealand I remember it from around 20Yrs ago it was a Crane truck that from memory had a half cab and a Michigan crane on the back. I'm sure it was ex Air Force but can't remember whether it was USAAC of USAF.
It was just outside of a town called Taihape, around the middle of the North Island of New Zealand, along way from any airforce base. It normally sat next to a house just of the main road. Although I don't go pass that way very often now I would say it should be there still. I'm sure I had a photo of it but cannot find it anywhere.
From memory it was in good condition painted Flight line Yellow and certainly look like a beast, much larger than my little Jap Car of the time.
