M7 trailer dimensions and weight

Post by Bruce »

I have searched, and I can't find any information on the dimensions and weight of the M7 generator trailer. I am trying to determine if I can tow it a short distance with my 1 ton truck.

Thanks,

The Searchlight trailer which I own as I recall is 5,100 lbs and would be just slightly heavier then the M7.

It is VERY wide. If it has brakes (which it should), you should be able to tow it. If no brakes (electric by the way), DON"T DO IT!!!!! You won't be able to stop it!

Dr Deuce,

Thanks very much for the reply. I do have electric brakes on the truck. I was curious what type of brakes the trailer had, but you answered that question as well. Thank you very much again. I am guessing that the width is about 102"

The TM is now posted on the M7 web page.

http://www.cckw.org/G221_specs.htm

Weight trailer 5,180 pounds

176 inches long

92 inches wide

I believe the brakes are 6V and not 12 Volt (as your truck is)

The M7 trailer is huge almost the same size as a GMC

You need at least a GMC to tow the trailer safely on the road, maybe a 6x6 Dodge will do also

You can tow the trailer without brakes with a "big" truck still you have to be careful.

The M7 series does have 6v brakes unless you rewire them like I did for 12v. The only real problem I see with a smaller truck (assuming you are using the electric brakes) is that they do not like to change course easily. I tried mine with the M6 Chev Bomb Truck and it could tow it great, and I never did get to monkey it around, but it had a hard time stopping it with a load.

The link has been fixed.

http://www.cckw.org/G221_specs.htm

That information is in the G221 trailer section of the main site.

Note: This link problem was a SNAFU due to to the move from a Microsoft Server to a Linux server. Linux is totally unforgiving syntax ie small versus capital letters. If anyone encounters any more of these problems anywhere on the site please email me the link location.
