Hub nut covers

Post by Goose »

I'm new to restoring a steel Ben Hur. How do the hub nut covers come off? Are they threaded or do they pop off like a jeep? I'd like to get these off without destroying them.
Thanks

The covers are threaded on. Use plenty of rust eater. Minor heat as a last resort where the cover meets the hub.

Thanks Bill. The nuts came right off with a pair of pliers. Looks like someones been into these hubs before.

Next question; where do I get new brake shoes for this beast? I can get my current ones re-lined, but its a little pricey.
