Spare Trie Carrier

Post by rgus »

I just picked up a 1944 Checker K-52 trailer. I say that because it has the spare tire carrier and the footprint of the PE-95 Generator. I just wonder why the carrier is not mentioned in any G518 manuals or in the ORD 7-8-9. That makes me think they were not made by the same folks at the same time???? I want to think they were available within the supply system and installed as needed by 3rd or 4th echelon. Do we even know that they were in fact used during WW2?? Could they be a post war add-on???? I just wondered if anyone had ever come across any data on whom and when the carries was made?????? There has been some suggestion that the carrier was a Nash Kelvinator thing but this is a Checker trailer. Any thoughts
