1 ton water tank buffalo trailer

Post by Ledog »

Hi all.

Dad and I just bought a water trailer which is not complete. In order to complete it, I will need some help from those of you who own one or have parts.

Our trailer is missing the the front faucets and faucets box, intake hose's strainer and rear light and their brackets. It's also missing the two fenders, but I would prefer to find them in Europe (I'm in Switzerland).

Here are the parts I'm missing: In red are parts I've found so far

Image

Image
A - faucets boxes and lids with faucets and pipes
D - intake hose (would need the dimensions to see if I can find one)
E - tray (will need the dimensions to reproduce it)
F - intake hose's bell strainer (will need the dimensions if I can't find a real one)
Q - rear lights and brackets (bracket are the same than on the steel cargo trailer (wooden cargo trailers have different brackets)
R - both fenders (only for local pickup, not too far from Switzerland)

Will also need a reproduction or original dataplate and a blackout switch.

Here are some pictures of our trailer.

I am in the process of buying a trailer very much like yours. It too is missing many of the same parts. I have some photos of the missing faucets that I can post, so you know what you're looking for. I do have a NOS hose and strainer, but don't have a pump like you have on yours.

This is NOT my trailer, but rather, is some good photos of parts that I need:

Here are some more photos:

The quest is continues!

Brackets for the rear lights are the same as the steel cargo trailer.

Here is the trailer delivered!!

We're still looking for the parts listed above. In addition, I would also need picture of the cover vent (letter K on the second picture). I don't know what it should look like. Mine is probably not original.

We're also missing the drain plug at the bottom rear of the tank. I will give you the dimension of the hole in a while. (would need pictures of this plug to see how it looks like)

Image Drain hole

A good news is that I found an original faucet in the tank! There is a marking from manufacturer in Milwaukee. I suppose it's a large model (1 and half inch), but I'm not sure were to measure this dimension. Is it the tread diameter? I will try to measure it and see. also found in the tank is a rubber intake hose but it has been cut in two. I haven't measured it yet.

Image Image Five more to find!
Do one of you have an idea where I could find these old fashion kind of faucets?

We're looking for a maximum of pictures of the missing parts, especially the front boxes for the faucets, the faucets pipes, the strainer and the tray. We will appreciate any help. Thank you in advance!

I am in the process of buying one. Can't officially say I do, until I actually pick it up. I will also have a NOS pick up hose, but none of the faucets and also no pump...

Rod routinely posts his contact info on-line. You can find it the same wa I did. Google scoutcar rod shaver, and look for a link to the MLUforum, related to T-16 carriers...

I have 2 water buffalos; one steel and one aluminum.

The alu one is restored and we can drink water from it. I have had it since the late 80's if I remember right and have never found the faucets. You can fab the outlet boxes, but the faucets.... :(

Hi dr deuce

Do you think that we could find some look alike faucets in specialists stores nowadays?

I have seen "oil Barrel" faucets both metal and plastic that are similar but with twin levers sticking up that you squeeze together. That is the closest I have ever seen.

My good alu water buffalo is starting to leak! The thing has always gotten these sores on the inside in various places. One of them must have gone through.

I am thinking about lining it, but with what? Ideas? Must be drikable and must be able to take a little clorox from tiem to time.

I was thinking about the bed liner stuff.

I've heard of people having good luck using Cam-cote food grade epoxy... Probably want to seal up the holes first??

I used Cam-cote on 3 Water Jerry Cans. Sand blasted the inside. Washed with a neutralizer. Primer with Rustoleum Primer. Final coat was with Rustoleum about the same color as the original, that cream color. Then 2 coats of Cam-coat. Took about 1/2 quart of the stuff to do 3 cans.

You have to pour in the cam-cote and then turn the jerry can over to coat all the sides and then poor out the surplus. That could be an issue with a Water Buffalo. :D

How long do you have to work with the cam-cote?

How expensive is it?

Where do you get it?

Rotating the tank is not that hard. A CCKW pintle rotates. Make a simple rig that bolts to the rear frame that will support the back and allow the tank to rotate. Take the fenders and wheels off. It should rotate relatively easily

I got it from a Bee-keeping place. It is used for food grade coating.

Sets in a couple of hours. 72 hours prior to use. $14.95 a quart.

It is more of a food grade coating than a hole plugger.

Hi all

Image

I've found this faucet on Ebay that looks very close to the original. I'ts 1/2 inch tread, wich fits the 4 smaller bibs on the trailer. Seller says he doesn't ship outside USA. I've tried to contact him, but he didn't answer. I assume he can't emails outside the USA neither.

The shop that sells this is: http://www.hysham.net

I'm wondering if they could have the 1 inch diameter tread as well. Maybe one of you guys can buy a few of these and forward them to Europe? It's not that heavy to ship via airmail. I'll be interested in 4 of these 1/2 inch tread and 2 of 1 inch if available.

We're a lot of people to look for these faucets in Europe. You would do a good buisness if you could find who's the manufacturer, order some quantity and put them on Ebay with shipping set to "worldwide".

The garden hose tread at the botom could be sawed to match the original.

Thanks to let me know if you come across something like that!

The logo on the faucet must be the manufacturer as they are other decorative faucets as well.

Too many google hits to go through. Anyone knows the manufacturer let us know.
