found a Ben Hur for the genset

Hi Guys

I found this trailer a couple of weeks ago, it had been overhauled
in Japan after the second world war. I found it in the Netherlands btw nearby Eindhoven, the trailer had it last service in the Dutch army.
They made the last conversion to the lights and reflectors, its missing
it racks and canvas cover. But its after all in good shape and will be
used to move the genset and for display ofcourse. So I dont really need
the racks and certainly not the canvas. Allthough I like it, but its
quite expensive.

In april I have the opportunity to buy another WWII genset without engine (ofcourse  ), but it has the rare panels that I need to complete mine.
Hopefully it does also have an original instrument panel and then Iam
done with this project.

All this only started 2years ago when I came up with the idea of rebuilding
a spare engine for the jeep. Later I got the genset without engine (for free allmost), thus the rebuild engine is know used in the genset. More for display ofcourse and it aint bad to run it couple of times a year. And to move the genset I needed a trailer

Generator in Ben Hur

Post by Cat Man »

Hey Corne,

Nice find. I Like the last line. Needed something to move the generator.....

Ha Ha Ha. Sounds familar.

Found a manual for a generator, Bought it. Found generator, bought it, needed trailer to move generator. Bought it. No way to tow trailer and generator. Need truck. Found Truck and bought it. Truck too small. Bought bigger truck.

A few years go by and one day you look around your back yard and wonder where did all this start?

IT is MADNESS!!

I like generators too. A military friend who was charged with operating them in Vietnam, once told me that when people asked what is a generator? He told them to think of a lawn mower without a blade. :)

We just picked up a late Korean War Military Hobart welder generator. Very complete. Now I need another 1 Ton Trailer just for that display.

It never ends.
