wooden steering wheel

Post by sixbysix »

Hi am after a wooden steering wheel for my 1943 CCKW open cab
an NOS hard rubber/bakelite from the earlier (up to late '42 model) would would be another less preferred option.

If you are still interested in a wooden steering wheel I have one here in SE Queensland, Australia. It will need a bit of work doing on it because the dovetail joints on the rim have reacted to the dry heat here (which is not surprising after 65 years or more!), and would need glueing and clamping back into place. Come back to me if you are interested and I will go downstairs and take a photo for you. Have also got about 1.5 tonnes of mainly mechan ical parts if you're looking for anything in that area!!

Hi Pipeliner
I have already gotten myself a wooden steering wheel for now ... thankyou.
...however am interested to know what "mechanical stuff" you have locked away ...one thing I'm after is a bracket for the inside rearvision mirror of my '43 open cab for starters.
My vehicle was used in western queensland for years with an outfit called red roo - laying pipeline ... does your 'pipeline' moniker have anything to do with that?
