Windshield frame

Post by Runslikeapenguin »

my windshield frame is rotted to no end. i doubt i could fix it via welding and i love Safari windshields so i want to be able to open it. if i did the whole thing would just collapse in a rusty storm of death.

this is for a 42 Chevy round cab truck.

I believe that Jim Carter has new civy windshield frames for 39-46 Chevy trucks. They are not cheap and you have to drill a couple holes and fill a couple holes to convert them from civy to mil

according to his online catalog they are $350 plus $65 for the center divider bar. which is way to much money.

its looking like i will have to think more seriously about repairing my rotten one.

Thanks for quick reply, my problem is that I do not have a windshield, bought a cab only (with no windshield) and restoring. Will check out his website.

Many Thanks

Re: Windshield frame needed

Post by bud44750 »

I have a 353 open cab that had an artic cab so the windshield doesn't fold down though it will tilt open at the bottom. I want to convert it to a fold down style and need the side brackets and the windshield itself. Any ideas where I might find one or at least some of the parts needed.
