Hi Mark :)
Have you checked your local auto parts store Napa for one I'll bet 270 engine parts are still avaliable from perfect circle for one example . I got all the engine parts I needed to rebuild my 44 willys mb from my local auto parts store, I believe they were perfect circle, pistons ,rings ,rod bearings valve guides and valves, they were of good quality. To find OEM GMC might to say the least be difficult but not impossible. The metals and machinery used in todays parts are far better than what was in use in the 40's.

Thanks for al your information. I stopped by our local machine shop and they told me to try EGGE Machine in California 1-800-866-EGGE He says if it is old and runs they will have the part for it  I called them up and they have the pistons pins and rings and many other parts for GMC 270's

Pistons & Pins were $255.00/set

Here is the website address for EGGE. http://www.egge.com

Their online catalog list pistons for 1941 through 1949 GMC 270 CID engines, as well as many other parts for those model years.
