Cat Man Do

Post by Cat Man »

Two weeks ago we attended the Fall Rally at Kevin and Thea Kronlund's near Spooner Wiscosin here in the Upper Midwestern USA.

They put on a great show for the end of the HMV show season. Kevin likes BIG MV's. "We" have been trying to buy this WWII Cat D7 Engineer Tractor for a number of years.

The brothers that had it, finally said OK, as long as it went to a good home and Kevin will do any dozer work they may need in the future. The tractor was purchased by their father as military surplus in 1960. Worked hard but always stored inside, summer and winter.

The Cat Man had the honor of demonstrating the tractor for the crowd. Music to my ears. David Doyle took these photo's. Though you would like to see a real Cat in action. The best in the world.

Cat man, you are a lucky guy. My late father was a heavy equipment operator from dozers to tower cranes. I have always had a fondness for these machines after going to work with him every chance I got. The first machine he operated was a CCKW with a shovel front. Hope you get many more chances to play with this.
Cheers,
Barry

Cat Man,

Thanks for putting on the demonstration at the show. It's always great to watch these old machines doing what they were built to do. Not very often you get a chance to see a D7 and a Sherman tearing up the same ground.

:D Hope we get the opportunity to come back next year.

Takes a "real dozer operator" to play a cable dozer for all its worth!

Beautiful :)

Might we expect to see pix on the fron of MV mag and an articl by David Doyle in the near future?

I had the pleasure of riding shotgun on this machine with Catman during the 2009 show. Then I got to operate it, the power was awesome. The following year I helped with rebuilding the magneto on the pony motor (contacts needed cleaning). I could not image trying to start this machine when it was really cold outside.
The fall partys, a lasting memory,
Thanks KK.
