One was installed if the CCKW had the Powerplant Heater Kit.

And be careful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had a US Army 1951 US Motors 30kw genset with a slave cable and somewhere along the line, they changed the slave cable connections. It was both marked and wired backwards from the present ones! Made for some interesting sparks when I went to plug it into my M151....

I have one of the heaters from WW2 for the CCKW but have not really investigated it that much. I was going to put it on my "Korean War" CCKW that has the open cab w/hard cab top with doors.

I'll bet the Army did not do that, it usually happens in Post GI life by dummies without TM's experimenting.

Read it again: It was MARKED that way too! backwards from current molded into the plastic. I was surprised too!

Someone monkied with it and assembled the recepticle into the housing incorrectly. The Terminals of Slave Recepticles was standardized in late WWII. 6, 12, and 24 Volt systems all had the same pattern. Some dummie got his mits on it when he should have been doing something not so dangerous.

Again: It was molded into the plastic + and - in the wrong places. It could not be assembled that way.

I studied it for a while to make sure it was not me and I had the M151 right next door to look at

But there was no other Slave system and all recepticles were made according to contract, too bad it is not around to BS over, it would be fun.
Am positive there would be a simple answer.

When I plugged the slave cable into my M151, it sparked. As I discovered, the stoopid M151 was wired wrong. Probably the only one in the world. Do you know how difficult it is to replace the slave cable adapter when you have the heater installed?

After I replaced it with a new, correct one, I plugged the cable into the M151 (cautiously) and proceded to plug it into the genset. Again, it sparked. Upon examination, I found that it was both marked wron and wired that way. What I finally wound up doing was removing the slave cable adapter from the genset and letting the housing hang. It was just a backup genset so I did not care what it looked like. The housing is connected (as on the M-series) to what is considered ground. That is why it sparked when I plugged it in. When I dismounted the housing and let it float, there was no more short unless the M151 and genset physically touched.
