'43 CCKW Diesel conversion?

Area for Discussion of non-original and non-Theater Modifications to the GM family of WWII trucks. This would include engine, transmission, and driveline swaps, etc.

Great idea if you want reliability and economy but a friend of mine install a diesel engine which was fantastic but he had problems with stock Gmc clutch's.... Dont forget the extra Torque a diesel produces. !!!!! he went through 4 complete clutch's so beware!!!!!!!! .
Not just that it sounded like a tractor....

If you make, or can adapt a 6 bolt 50's 270 flywheel, you can use a 1974 Corvette clutch. That is what I have behind my 302. You need a flat flywheel

Hi My friend had installed a perkins which i believe is from a (british)1990 ish Dodge 50 truck as bell housing fitted straight on to it, He has sold it so unable to take pics but he did say he would have installed a Mitsubishi or similar. He had fantastic pulling power where the stock engine run out of steam.. Have seen your video and that looks very impressive and very nice job you have done
