Re-powering a CCKW?

Area for Discussion of non-original and non-Theater Modifications to the GM family of WWII trucks. This would include engine, transmission, and driveline swaps, etc.

Tim
Where I live there are no CCKW's or parts available so I understand your frustration. I have had to pay a fortune in shipping costs to get materials and make some pretty long trips to pick up things. Do your best buddy to save the old truck. The pride you gain in rescuing an old warrior is worth the hard work . :D

In a earlier post I mentioned a guy swapping a 427 talldeck engine

Well I found the post
He is on the G503 2 1/2 ton forum and his user name is SHONKIE you might try sending him a PM for more details.
It may be another power option for you.
Hope this helps
John
Well, I did find him and PM him, to see what he did do and what was involved.... but I dont know that I would go to that extreme LOL

Will see what he had involved with the 427 swap.

Steering column for one. The CCKW is narrow and the column gets in the way of the ex manifold

Got some pictures of the 427 swap. Wow, looks like a lot of work! Though It could be fun too... even though I know it creates controversy.

Hey Tim
Is that 1 1/2 ton Chevy in Wash.
still avail ?
That would give you the cargo body you need as well as a 235 that would work as well for the time being.
Hope this helps
