reinforced frames

anyone have pictures of a reinforced frame , mine is the only one ive seen , i think mine is stock , i read something about later cckw's having reinforced frames , mines 7/44 # 353 383625-1 with winch .

IMHO the reinforcement on your truck is a neatly done add on by a civilian operator. If factory done then surely the rivets below the top edge would have passed through the reinforcement instead of them being cut away to clear the rivet heads. Many more trucks would have been built after yours and so surely if this was factory incorporated there would be more of them about. I'm unaware of any.

the reason i think the reinforcing is stock is it appears that the rail and inner reinforcings were painted army green along with the rest of the frame at the same time .

here's some more frame pics , I wonder if truck was sent out with reinforced frame , winch (garwood dual drive ) so it could be fitted to what ever they needed ,cargo,tanker,dump,whatever.

It looks like the truck was painted ww2 od first then still in service after the war was reinforced and painted darker od like korean war era. i think these trucks were used by the army til 55 or 56.
