Is there a modern fuel filter element that would fit in the stock CCKW bowl? I would like to upgrade.

Have heard of someone doing it on the G.503 forum. The welded a ring top and bottom inside the standard container for the element to fit into ... not sure what one they used though. Sounded like a good idea though as they said fuel consumption improved to around 10 m.p.g

Look at the Fram HPG1 Filter assembly - Summit Racing sells them and the replacement elements. Same style as the WWII edge type filter and housing.

They sell for under $45 US. I put one on our Dodge and am pleased.

Jeff,

Is this the one?

Did you get it with this insert?

A good alternative with close to the original look (after some paint). :D

I use a NAPA 3042. It fits in the original filter bowl and works perfectly.

THat is the Fram replacement filter assembly. The NAPA number that Nick listed for the original bowl works great too, if your CCKW still has the original.

Here is the new made Fram components on the Dodge WC firewall

Somehow that does not look like a 230 Dodge sittin' in that WC's engine compartment  :D

Busted. My CCKW is 100% original. But the Dodge WC21 we are building for the Alaska Convoy in August has several enhancements to make it more road worthy. Like the small block V8 350 and a 4 speed manual overdrive transmission.

BUt the fuel filter looks nice!
